MERALCO’s 200 gift bags given to farmers

The two hundred (200) gift bags courtesy of MERALCO Manila Sector (MMS) intended to be given to the mass goers of the first day of simbang gabi were ultimately given to farmers in hunger strike who joined the opening of simbang gabi at the Manila Cathedral-Basilica (MCB).

The presider, Bishop Broderick Pabillo, D.D., during his homily, solicited support for farmers in hunger strike through donations of food for their needed provision after the strike. Bishop Pabillo is the Auxiliary Bishop of Manila and Bishop in-charge of the Pastoral and Social Concerns of the Archdiocese of Manila.

Msgr. Nestor C. Cerbo, MCB Rector, after distributing holy communion, approached the head of MMS and proposed to him that instead of giving the 200 gift bags to mass goers, MMS can donate them to the farmers in hunger strike. MMS head agreed to the proposal.
