American keyboardist performs Pipe Organ recital at MMCB

Mr. Ken Weber, an American organist, performed a Pipe Organ recital at the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica (MMCB) last March 25 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with free admission to the public.

Married to a Filipina from Nueva Ecija, Mr. Weber resides in Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A. He was born and raised in the Catholic Church and has served as pipe organist for the Church since 1978. He has performed numerous recitals in Catholic parishes in several locations in U.S.A., often with a number of choirs in tow. He plays pipe organ for weddings, funerals, and special Masses.

The MMCB Pipe Organ, considered as the biggest in Southeast Asia, has attracted the interest of top-level organ¬ists not only locally but even internationally, with Mr. Weber among the latest to manifest such interest.
Since its complete rehabilitation in 2006 at the initiative of the incumbent MMCB Rector, Msgr. Nestor C. Cerbo, the gigantic musical instrument has brought back the “sounds of wonderful splendor” to the MMCB, whose solemnity of liturgical celebrations is turning out to be its added hallmark as the premier temple of the Archdiocese of Manila.
