The Spirit of Change
The Intramuros Administration and the Manila Cathedral

It is a curious thing to know that the Walled City of Intramuros had shared over 400 years of history with the Manila Cathedral. And in that history these two entities had viewed the continuous changes in the structures of society.

Then 29 years ago, the Intramuros Administration began its task of taking care of Intramuros. It soon also began sharing the spiritual work that was the mission of the Manila Cathedral for centuries past.

But this year, change became a part of IA with the appointment of a new head. Administrator Anna Maria L. Harper has put the agency to task in bringing the Walled City closer to the Filipinos by showcasing their history and culture. And being in close cooperation with the Manila Cathedral is one of those jobs – working hand in hand in making Intramuros part of the lives of the residents and the visitors.

The spiritual needs are, of course, provided by the Church but done with the people of Intramuros. Being sponsor of Masses and sharing in the prayers for the betterment of every¬thing is a good thing in that cooperation. Through this course, IA has always been a part of this duty and will continue to do so in the years to come
