BF Life Insurance Corporation
The BF Life Insurance Corporation is the sponsor of the noon Masses at the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica (MMCB) for April 2008 during Wednesdays and Fridays.
For close to three decades now, BF Life Insurance Corporation has been supporting the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica (MMCB) through the company’s annual sponsorship, on a month-long duration, of the church’s noontime Masses. We find it spiritually enriching and mission-motivating to be constantly attached to the MMCB, which is located proximate to our company’s office in Intramuros.
It is inspiring to see how the MMCB consciously carries out its social mission through various programs and projects that benefit the poor. In particular, as an immediate implementing arm of the Pondo ng Pinoy project spearheaded by Manila Archbishop Gaudencio B. Cardinal Rosales, it has launched its feeding program for the indigents in Intramuros and nearby areas. Also conspicuous are its outreach efforts and scholarship project, generally in collaboration with Caritas Manila and the Intramuros Consortium Outreach and Environment Committee. At no other time are these forms of assistance to the poor more relevant than now when the crushing grind of economic crisis drives many of our countrymen beyond the threshold of patient suffering and opens the floodgates to a economic desperation. We see in the MMCB as church in action, a church for the poor.
Yes, BF Life is relatively small, its revenue record recently threatened by the impact of public misgivings toward pre-need firms as a result of the highly publicized and Senate-investigated insolvency of a leading insurance company in the country. But in a modest way and within the scope of our own limitation, we see to it that we participate in the MMCB projects, or at least in some of them.
We congratulate Msgr. Nestor C. Cerbo, the incumbent MMCB Rector, for the full-fashion facelift of the Cathedral- Basilica, now every inch a picture of splendor, exquisite and outshining, giving sense and substance to its acknowledged stature as the premier temple of Manila.
